History
From fortress to castle
Schloss Loosdorf was originally built as a fortress in the Middle Ages and was owned by a succession of noble families.
During the Thirty Years’ War, much of the castle was destroyed by a devastating fire. The castle owes its present form to the Princes of Liechtenstein.
Owing to its centuries-long history, the castle features elements of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Neoclassicism. In 1834, the Piatti family acquired Schloss Loosdorf.
Today
A castle that opens its doors
Parts of the castle are open to the public. For one, the castle has a private museum housing the Broken Collection and its porcelain and shard collection.
In addition, the castle can be hired for weddings, events and seminars, and as a location for filming and photo shoots.
