Kick-off event “Comeback for more”: Schloss Loosdorf x Angewandte

Launch of the Broken Collection research project

Kick-off event for Comeback for more at Schloss Loosdorf

The research project “Broken Collection” is dedicated to the history of the broken porcelain collection of Schloss Loosdorf and to the tension between preservation and destruction.

The shard collection of Schloss Loosdorf, with valuable porcelain pieces from Europe and Asia spanning three centuries that were destroyed in the course of the Second World War, is on the move: 2023 is not only the year in which the objects fully return after an exhibition tour through Japan, but also the start of the research project “Broken Collection”, carried out by the Institute of Conservation and Restoration at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under the direction of Gabriela Krist.

The project begins with the exhibition “COMEBACK for more”. Opening on 20 May, the show presents the porcelain returned from Japan, provides information about the project and gives visitors insights into conservation science research and the restoration of the shards.
