First venue of the exhibition in Japan

The Tragedy of Loosdorf Castle exhibition at the Okura Museum of Art

On 4 November 2020, the exhibition “The Tragedy of Loosdorf Castle” opened at the Okura Museum of Art in Tokyo.

It shows large parts of the Piatti family’s unique shard collection. The shard collection originates from a historic porcelain collection that was almost completely destroyed by the Russian occupying forces during the Second World War.

The collection was analysed on site in Loosdorf by a research team from Gakushuin University in Tokyo and confirmed as Japanese cultural heritage.

Parts of the shard collection were restored in Japan and exhibited together with the shards.
